Becoming an Officer: College

Home Plate In order to become a pilot, you must first become an officer in the USAF. There are 4 ways to do this:
  1. USAFA: United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO
  2. ROTC: Reserve Officer Training Corps
  3. OTS: Officer Training School
  4. AMS: Academy of Military Science (for the national guard dudes out there)

USAFA offers a great education and is a very tough school to get into.
ROTC is a program that is run at most large universities that offer the same type of training as USAFA, albeit on a more scheduled basis rather than constantly at the Academy.
OTS is the shortest way to become an officer if you have already completed your bachelor's degree.
AMS is the National Guard's commissioning source.

All of these commissioning sources require you to have accomplished a bachelor's degree of any kind or enable you to achieve one.
